Marie Callender began her pie company in the early 1940’s with a reputation for producing delicious pies. Marie herself began selling her pies directly to Southern California restaurants and business boomed. In 1948, the family opened their first wholesale bakery to accommodate the demand. Sales continued to increase, leading Marie’s son, Don Callender, to open the first full-service Marie Callender’s restaurant in 1964 in Orange, California. Spring Mountain Valley

Spring Mountain Vineyard is a privately owned estate devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon and the Bordeaux blending varieties. Of its 845 acre footprint, 225 acres are planted to vine and delineated into 135 hillside vineyard blocks. Each block has unique soil, exposure and microclimate. The great diversity of steep hillside plantings is the source of distinctive wines with concentrated flavors, soft tannins and supreme age-ability. Spring Mountain Vineyard produces the following estate grown wines: Elivette, the winery’s signature Bordeaux blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot; Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the power of the mountain, Syrah in a northern Rhone style; Syrah CO-FERMENT, a cofermentation of Syrah and Viognier; Sauvignon Blanc that is barrel fermented with sur lie batonnage; and Pinot Noir. All wines from the Spring Mountain Vineyard are estate grown and vinified to honor and reflect the unique terroir of Spring Mountain. The estate contains a number of historic structures including Villa Miravalle of 1885; the La Perla winery of 1875; the towered stone winery, Chateau Chevalier of 1891; and several caves and barns from the 19th century.
